The ISC2 Chennai Chapter successfully hosted a one-day workshop on “Establishing and Operationalizing a Data Privacy Office (DPO) for an Organization”, led by Mr. Solomon Sagayaraj J, CISA, CISM, CGEIT, CRISC, CDPSE, ISMS 42001 AIMS LA — a cybersecurity leader with over 30 years of experience.
Held on November 8, 2025, at Hotel Maris, Chennai, the session began with opening remarks by Mr. Vijayakumar KM, Chapter President, who spoke on the growing importance of data privacy in the age of AI, followed by an introduction of the instructor by Mr. Vijayakumar A, Chapter Secretary.
Built around a case study on a pretend bank - Secure Bank India Ltd., participants explored how to establish a Privacy Office from the ground up — covering privacy governance, data mapping, ROPA, DPDP, DPIA, vendor oversight, breach response, and privacy audits. Each module featured hands-on exercises that let participants step into the shoes of a Data Privacy Officer for a day.
Midway through, everyone enjoyed a traditional South Indian lunch served on banana leaves — the cheerful faces said it all! The afternoon continued with lively discussions and collaboration as teams tackled real-world privacy challenges.
The day concluded with Mr. SENTHILVEL S, VP–Programmes, felicitating Mr. Solomon Sagayaraj J for his generous contribution, followed by a heartfelt vote of thanks from Ms. Neha Singh, Director.
A big thank you to our speaker, participants, and Board members for making this workshop both insightful and memorable.
